Originating from the Swedish word for sky or heaven, himmel, the Himmeli are a traditional Finnish ornament, a mobile decoration that is traditionally made out of straw, or rather reeds in Finland. They are typically extremely ornate and are traditionally suspended above the dinner table during the holiday season. It is thought that the larger the Himmeli, the larger the rye crop will be in the coming year.
While you may not have a rye crop to worry about, these gorgeous Himmeli are an elegant year-round addition to any home or office. These geometric Himmeli ornaments can be suspended from the ceiling to float in the breeze, made into a fixture to adorn any wall, rest cleanly as a desk ornament, or embraced as an air plant holder.

This Himmeli can either be affixed to a wall with a brass-plated-nail; have an attached, polished, modern leather cording; to be suspended with a clear cord which allows it to not only appear like it is floating, but also to spin freely in the breeze. And the final option, to have the Himmeli resting on a surface as a beautiful and ornate desk or coffee table ornament or a striking centerpiece.
The Himmeli will also naturally oxidize and darken as time passes, but can be polished to its original shine.
