The adorable but painful little cactus is known by several names, Cholla, Cylindropuntia, or Jumping Cactus.

Native to the Southwestern United States and Northern Mexico, there are more than 20 different species of this sweet shrub-like cactus.

They are notoriously known for their ability to "jump" onto animals and people with their barbed spines. It allows them to hitch a ride to find a new home.

Risograph is a fascinating medium that uses actual ink, unlike laser jets, and the colors are transparent, which is why I'm able to overlay inks achieving new shades and hues.

Risograph printing is extraordinarily environmentally friendly, where the screens that are used are made from rice and banana leaves and the inks are derived from rice and soy.

This particular illustration was drawn by hand, redrawn as a digital file, and printed here in Seattle.

(I know, but I warned you that this was the long answer before you even started reading this!) So when I started researching hats I bought 13 different hats to see which one fit the best. Because the fact of the matter is that I wanted to sell a hat, it was going to fit my head. And if it fit my head, it would also fit almost everyone else's heads too.

Every single one of us has been there.

Either we were too eager and loved the plant (i.e. overwatered it) to death, received some bad tips (like “watering” a plant with ice cubes, or water frequently and shallowly), or simply had the wrong environment for a plant (hello Maranta’s - I still love you).

We have all killed a plant.

And each and every time we grow, each time we learn something new, and each time we get better.

The Monstera Deliciosa Plant is a prized addition to any plant collection. It has a luscious Dark Jungle Green coloring and features very distinct leaf fenestrations, hence its popular nickname "swiss cheese plant".

The latin name “deliciosa” came about because of the edible fruit that is produced, that is said to taste like fruit salad. And Monstera refers to the monstrous size of the plant, which can grow upwards of 30ft tall!

The Pilea peperomioides is also known as the Chinese Money Plant, Pancake, or UFO Plant. My favorite nickname though, is The Friendship Plant.

Native to China, it is believed that a Norwegian missionary took cuttings with him when he returned home in the 1940s. And the way that this plant spread in popularity was through the sharing of its pups (babies). This is also why this plant is also known as the Friendship Plant.

Inspired by that history, I have a Friendship Set, which will include one Large Pilea Pin and one Small Pilea Pin, both on one card. If you would like each on their own card back, please let me know in the comments section when you checkout.

The Sage Leaf is a sweet symbol of strength, wisdom and has a storied history among several cultures around the world.

Sage is associated with immortality in Celtic tradition. In ancient Egypt, it was used to promote fertility in women. Native Chinese sage was written about as long ago as 206 BC and was believed to give those that consume it physical strength and wisdom.
